Discounts & Cable Companies

I spent an hour on a live chat with a rep from Xfinity, trying to figure out what internet would be the right purchase for me. ๐Ÿ’ฌ

I let him know that I'm moving, hence the need for a new internet, and currently have Youtube TV, so I didn't need to buy a bundle that included cable. ๐Ÿ•ธ

To my surprise, it was a largely pleasant conversation. ๐Ÿ˜…

He even suggested specific cable offerings I should look at, to compare numbers and see if it made sense for me to cancel Youtube TV. Meaning, he successfully got me to reevaluate my purchase consideration. ๐Ÿค”

I worked out the numbers and told him that Youtube TV already provides specific channels that are important to me, but that Xfinity would only include them in their upgraded bundle, which worked out to roughly the same price as Youtube TV + Xfinity internet. โš–๏ธ

So I said, "Here's my dilemma: Right now if I did your upgraded bundle and canceled Youtube TV, I'd pay roughly the same amount as keeping Youtube and only buying internet from you. The challenge is that I've got 3 yearsโ€™ worth of personalization preferences and DVR'd shows stored on my Youtube account, AND Youtube doesn't lock me into a 2-year contract, I can cancel anytime." ๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿพ

Then I did what any honest American would do when speaking with the cable company and asked for a discount ๐Ÿ˜‚.

"So it really doesn't make sense to switch for the same price. If you could get me the upgraded bundle for the price of basic, I'll add to cart right now and cancel Youtube." ๐Ÿ›’

The agent then said thank you for your time and abruptly ended the chat with me. ๐Ÿ›‘

How would you have responded?
